Acne is the term given for inflamed spots appearing over the face, back and shoulders. Although it affects people of all ages, it occurs most often in adolescence. Acne is caused by a number of different things. Research has shown that hormonal balance affects acne, and adolescence is the time when the hormones are adjusting. Small hair follicles become plugged with dead skin cells. Secretions accumulate and bacteria forms, causing pimples, cysts or blackheads. To get rid of the acne, you have to get rid of the bacteria.
Prevention
- Cleanliness is essential. Clean you skin thoroughly, but do not scrub your skin.
- Stress and anxiety seem to aggravate acne in some people. Stop worrying and try some relaxation techniques. Seek professional help if this becomes an issue.
- Use water-based cosmetics and/or ones that do not irritate your acne.
